MBMG offer Organic Produce boxes for collection
Having recently moved their Organic Produce operation to their site on Oak Lane, just off the A10 Littleport bypass, local fresh produce supplier MBMG (formerly known as MBM) has launched an Organic Box Scheme enabling local residents to collect organic produce direct from the packhouse.

MBMG supplies a full range of organically grown vegetables, salads and fruits and is currently a supplier to a number of retailers ranging from the fine food halls of Harrods and Selfridges to the supermarket chain Morrisons. They also supply smaller independent stores and food manufacturers.

With a number of local residents asking to purchase direct from the packhouse, MBMG set up the Organic Produce Box collection scheme. Three different boxes are available – a locally sourced vegetable box, a mixed vegetable box and a mixed vegetable, salad and fruit box – for local residents to collect themselves. Customers simply need to place their order at least 24 hours beforehand and pay on collection.

All product is certified by the Soil Association and grown under Assured Produce guidelines. Wherever possible, product is sourced from the UK and much is grown in the East Anglia area. To ensure continuity though product, particularly the organic fruit, is also imported from Europe and further a field.

Steve Parrott, MBMG’s Organic Sales Manager, says ‘Our boxes are at least 10% cheaper than the equivalent product bought in the local supermarkets and by collecting the boxes themselves

customers are able to do their bit in reducing food miles as the products wont have travelled via a distribution centre before appearing on the supermarket shelves.’
